Katie Van Fossen, MA
Licensed Clincial Social Worker

Katie is a trained play therapist who spent two years studying trauma in childhood to better understand the impact of trauma throughout adulthood. She is also a trained EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) therapist who is working towards full certification. Katie believes that our path to healing isn’t linear and supports her clients through open and affirming support and validation for wherever the client is at in their journey of growth and healing.

Given Katie’s previous training of trauma in childhood in order to apply those concepts through EMDR, she is equipped to support and better understand how to help move a person through memories and symptoms of trauma to attain emotional healing. Katie is also trained in grief and loss whether through death, health disparity, or transitions of life. She has professional experience in identifying adequate coping skills to practice emotional regulation, manage confrontation, or in learning techniques to be a more assertive person.

Katie attained a Master’s in Social Work at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and finds working with clients of diverse backgrounds and engaging in their journey of self-actualization to be a privilege and an evolving relationship.
